Hmmmm, interesting ! especially the origin of the word "Salary". Kinda had me wondering why Roman soldiers were given money to buy salt in particular hhh
Good question, I think salt was one of precious commodities at that time so the government offered them this commodity to ensure their loyalty.
Other critics say it's a a sixth of the salt tax revenue we're taken aside for soldiers.
Look at the following quote:
